“[LiveStreaming Memorial Services] suits families with children who might be away at college or living abroad” (From CBS News)
Roughly 20% of funeral homes across the country now offer a streaming service to families, according to Bryant Hightower, president-elect of the National Funeral Director’s Association. It’s a consumer-driven trend: “A lot of people have experienced watching a funeral online and now the market is really beginning to come to us,” Lutterman, of One Room, said.
Death does not always come with advance notice. A loved one suddenly passing can throw lives near and far into turmoil.
Sometimes, traveling to a funeral is just not possible, due to the distance involved or the cost of getting there. However, participating in a funeral service and having the opportunity to say goodbye to a loved one is now possible, even if loved ones are not able to physically be in the funeral parlor.
When relatives are spread all over the country, it may not work out for everyone to be present at the funeral. The next-best thing, is to be there through the magic of the internet (liveStreamed) or sharing a video recording of the memorial service. Online streaming a memorial service creates a sense of unity, since everyone near and far can be a part of it,
Live Stream Webcasts allow distant family and friends to attend the memorial service of loved ones in “real time” and feel the importance of “being part of the service”. Live Webcasts are recorded and immediately available for playback
